United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein is on his first official visit to Ethiopia.
He lauded the economic and development strides the country has made in recent years, but said the government needs to address human rights deficits.
During his 3-day visit, Zeid is scheduled to meet with the country’s Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn, civil society organisations and has a planned visit to a prison facility.
He will also meet with the new leadership of the African Union. The visit ends on Thursday.
