The Nigerian Army says it has recorded major operational successes across several theatres nationwide in the past 72 hours, neutralising 47 terrorists, arresting 19 suspects, rescuing more than 30 kidnapped victims and recovering a cache of arms, ammunition and logistics.
The coordinated land and air offensives formed part of ongoing nationwide operations targeting terrorists, bandits, kidnappers and other criminal elements threatening public safety.
In Sokoto State, troops from forward operating bases in Binji and Tangaza Local Government Areas (LGAs) conducted ambushes that led to the neutralisation of three suspected Lakurawa terrorists. Recovered items included an AK-47 rifle, a motorcycle, communication radios and mobile phones.
Troops in Niger State also engaged armed terrorists on motorcycles in Munya LGA, killing one suspect and seizing weapons, ammunition and logistics.
Sustained patrols in Zamfara State’s Anka and Maru LGAs disrupted terrorist activities, neutralised two suspects, destroyed hideouts and rescued civilians with gunshot wounds.
Operations in Kaduna State’s Sanga and Zango Kataf LGAs foiled kidnapping and robbery attempts, rescued victims and led to the arrest of suspected cattle rustlers. Troops recovered a fabricated rifle, ammunition and rustled animals.
In Plateau State, three suspected cattle rustlers were arrested in Barkin Ladi and Wase LGAs, with motorcycles, knives, mobile phones and cash recovered.
Troops operating in Rivers State foiled suspected illegal activities along the Cawthorne Channel in Degema LGA, arresting two suspects and recovering tools believed to be intended for sabotage.
In Delta State, two wooden boats transporting about 1,700 litres of suspected stolen crude oil were intercepted.
In Imo State, troops arrested a suspect linked to the shooting of a civilian and handed him over to the police.
An anti-illegal mining raid in Gwagwalada, Federal Capital Territory, resulted in the arrest of 11 suspects and the recovery of a motorcycle and petroleum products.
The Air Component conducted precision strikes on Islamic State West Africa Province and Boko Haram logistics bases and gathering points in Borno State, killing at least 42 terrorists. Secondary explosions were observed, indicating the destruction of weapons and explosives.
Follow-up strikes targeted fleeing terrorists and further gatherings.
Across all fronts, troops rescued more than 30 kidnapped victims, including women and children.
They were evacuated, given medical support where required and reunited with their families.
Recovered items included AK-47 rifles, magazines, ammunition, radios, motorcycles and other logistics.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to intelligence-driven and joint operations aimed at safeguarding lives, property and national assets.
He pledged that offensive operations would be sustained in collaboration with other security agencies until peace is restored nationwide, while urging the public to provide credible information to support military efforts.
