President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has confered the national honour of Commander of the Federal Republic, CFR, on Late Kudirat Olayinka Abiola, wife of Chief M.K.O Abiola.
The president made this known in his State of the Nation address to celebrate the 2025 Democracy day to a joint session of the national assembly presided over jointly by President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abass Tajudeen.
President Tinubu also confered National Honours on the late Major General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua (GCFR), Prof. Humphrey Nwosu (CON), Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu (CON), Alhaji Balarabe Musa (CFR), Pa. Alfred Rewane (CFR), Bagauda Kaltho (OON), Chima Ubani (OON), Dr. Beko Ransome-Kuti (CON), Alao Aka Bashorun (CON), Chief Frank Kokori (CON), Emma Ezeazu (OON), Bamidele Aturu (OON), Fredrick Fasehun (CON), Professor Festus Iyayi (CON), Dr John Yima Sen (OON), Alhaja Sawaba Gambo (CON), Dr. Alex Ibru (CON), Chief Bola Ige (CFR), Sen. Ayo Fasanmi (CON), Sen. Polycarp Nwite (CON) and Dr. Nurudeen Olowopopo (CON), Ken Saro Wiwa(CON).
He also granted a full pardon to the Ogoni 9.

The President also confered National Honours on Sam Amuka Pemu, publisher of the Vanduard Newspapers who is celebrating his 90th birthday.
The President promised to announce more names in the coming days in consultation with the National Assembly.
He also took the opportunity to decorate the presiding officers of the national assembly with the national honours earlier confered on them.
