No fewer than ten people have been killed and several houses burnt in fresh violence that erupted in Taraba State, North East Nigeria.
Eyewitnesses say violence started about 2 a.m. when two villages belonging to the Fulani ethnic group, were attacked .
The attack on the villages led to reprisal attacks on neighbouring communities.
But Police Public Relations Officer for Taraba State, David Misal, says only six people were killed in the conflict.
The latest killings comes barely a week after the state governor, Darius Ishaku, reportedly urged Christians across the country to rise up and defend themselves against terrorists.
