In order to reduce the high level of insecurity in Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole, civilians, security agencies and the Government need to work together

This and many more were part of the submission of stakeholders at a security summit held recently in Iseyin, Oyo state.

Nigeria is presently facing different kind of security challenges such as cultism, kidnapping, terrorism, ritual killings among others and Stakeholders have continued to deliberate on how to find solution.

Recently, the Oke Ogun axis of Oyo state have recorded reports of suspected bandits activities ranging from kidnapping for ransom, killings and invasion of farmlands by the suspected criminals.

It is against this background that Stakeholders at this summit, comprising of representatives from conventional and local security agencies, as well as community leaders came together to address security issues bothering the towns and communities in the area.

Participants and speakers stressed on the need for improved synergy between state security agencies and citizens through sharing of tangible information that will aid intelligence gathering.

Other participants at the summit called for more security consciousness among citizens and ways to supply information to security agents.

The summit was organized to raise consciousness amongst citizens especially at the Oke Ogun axis of Oyo state on how to fight against insecurity.

Insecurity in Oyo State has been growing in the last few years with almost constant attacks by criminal herdsmen, Kidnappers, Bandits and Other sundry criminals especially in the Oke Ogun axis which also serves as the food basket of Oyo State.

Incidents such as the attack on the Custodial Centre at Abolongo in Oyo town, the attack by unknown gunmen rumoured to be Fulani herdsmen on Igangan town in the Ibrarapa area of Oyo State, kidnapping of a Local government in the Oke Ogun axis of the State, the recent kidnapping of farmers in Ipapo also in Oke-Ogun are all reasons for stakeholders to be wary in the State.
