The ministry of Youth and Sports has announced it is setting up a team to resolve the crisis rocking the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN.

Minister of Sports, Sunday Dare disclosed this through a twitter post where he said he would be setting up the crisis resolution team, in an attempt to end the disagreement amoung members of the Athletics board.

The minister’s call is coming a day after President of the AFN, Ibrahim Gusau, said he is willing to make peace with aggrieved members of the federation.

Gusau explained the autonomy the athletics body was yearning for which angered the ministry of sports.

Gusau said: “The autonomy we are talking about is in so far as administering the Federation is concerned and had always been in existence in the statutes of the AFN, the CAA and the WA. We have always borne all expenses associated with the administration of the Federation.
