Steel manufacturers in Nigeria have been charged to ensure compliance to standards, safety and quality of products.
The Director, Compliance and Enforcement, Standards Organisation of Nigeria, Bede Obayi, issued the directive during an inspection of steel companies in Ota and Sagamu industrial estates in Ogun State.
He explained that SON’s periodic review of products quality is aimed at ensuring that manufacturers do not compromise required standards for iron and steel in terms of physical and chemical properties.
Officials of the Standards agency’s measured the calibration status of the steel products to ascertain whether the diameter and length meet acceptable standards.
