Vice President Kashim Shettima has paid a condolence visit to former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, following the death of his mother.

The Vice President arrived at El-Rufai’s Abuja residence on Monday to personally sympathise with the former governor and his family over the passing of Hajiya Umma El-Rufai.

The late matriarch died in Cairo, Egypt, on Friday after a brief illness due to old age.

During the visit, Vice President Shettima described the deceased as a woman of great virtue and a pillar of strength to her family.

He offered prayers for the repose of her soul and asked God to grant the El-Rufai family the fortitude to bear the loss.

The Remains of Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, the El-Rufai’s matriarch, arrived in Nigeria ahead of her burial, which was slated for 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Hajiya Umma’s burial rites were conducted at the National Mosque, and her body was laid to rest at the Gudu Cemetery in Abuja.
