Work has commenced on a bill to increase the penalty for drug pushers in Nigeria by proposing a minimum fifteen year jail term.
At a public hearing on Monday, lawmakers and members of the public also proffered several ways of reducing drug trafficking and consumption among youths.
The enabling act of the National Drugs Law and Enforcement Agency, NDLEA is also to be restructured to include more drug offences and to cater for the welfare of anti-drugs officers in the performance of their duties.
