The Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs has showered Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, with rare commendation during his ambassadorial screening, praising his extensive academic and professional record.
Ibrahim, who represents Ondo South, had only just begun his introduction when members of the panel urged him to “take a bow and go,” in line with the Senate’s longstanding tradition for serving lawmakers.
However, the businessman-turned-politician opted to deliver a brief remark, a move that immediately drew applause from the room.

He highlighted his array of academic qualifications from top global universities, alongside his experience in business, law and public administration. His short comments drew nods of approval, with committee members repeatedly describing him as “an asset to Nigeria’s diplomatic corps.”
Before entering politics, Ibrahim built a reputation as a respected entrepreneur and scholar.
He currently serves on several key Senate committees and is regarded as one of the chamber’s most academically accomplished members.
The Foreign Affairs Committee is expected to submit its report to the Senate in the coming days, ahead of the confirmation of ambassadorial nominees forwarded by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
