Senate committee on Land Transportation to scrutinise proposals before approvals

The Senate committee on Land Transportation has laid out plans to ensure all proposals are properly scrutinised before approvals are made.

Over two Hundred and thirteen billion naira has been allocated to the Ministry of Transport in this year’s budget.

This was disclosed during the budget defense session of the Ministry, before the Committee .

Chairman of the Committee Senatoer Olugbenga Ashafa insisted that the committee be presented a breakdown of the over Eighty Thousand, Two Hundred and Seventy billion Naira allocated as counterpart funding for specific projects.

The minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi In his presentation, highlighted the successes achieved so far in Nigeria’s Railway landscape.

The chairman of the committee on transport commended the success recorded in land transport, particularly in the rail sector.

He said he believes that if the two hundred and thirteen billion naira allocated to land transport is put to good use, the sector will be rapidly developed and be a lasting achievement of president Buhari.
