The Senate said it supports President Muhammadu Buhari’s removal of Babachir Lawal as Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
Senate President, Bukola Saraki, congratulated the president for, quote, “doing the right thing on this matter.”

Deputy Majority Leader, Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah recalled that the Senate initiated the probe that led to Lawal’s indictment and removal, and said the lawmakers were also responsible for the sacking of ex-Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Abdulrasheed Maina.
A Senate probe of the alleged mismanagement of funds under the Presidential Initiative on the North East had indicted Lawal.
