Senator Orji Kalu, the lawmaker representing Abia North Senatorial District, has raised serious concerns over the pilot fitness check by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority during a plenary session on the floor of the national assembly on Thursday.
The Senator stated that some of the pilots indulge in the smoking of indian hemp and all sorts of drug use before flights, an action he claimed has prevented him from getting on board on several occasions.
“I’ve on many occasions stopped to fly because of the inadequacy of the pilots’ preparation. Some of the pilots are not prepared.

“Some of them use Indian hemp. Yes, it’s true. Some of them smoke Indian hemp,” he explained.
The senator called on the NCAA to look into such actions and conduct proper screening for pilots before flights.
