A strong contingent of security personnel on Tuesday took over the Adolak Event Centre in Osogbo as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) moved ahead with its 2026 Osun State governorship primary, despite objections from the state leadership.
The development follows the position earlier taken by the Osun PDP chairman, Sunday Bisi, who announced that the December 2, 2025 primary could not hold due to the unresolved national leadership crisis.
Bisi had also suggested that Governor Ademola Adeleke was unlikely to pursue the party’s ticket under the prevailing circumstances.
But the party’s National Organising Secretary, Hon. Theophilous Shan, countered this stance, insisting that the primary must go on as scheduled.

At the venue on Tuesday, security was visibly heightened, with officers of the Police, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Department of State Services (DSS) deployed around the premises.
Also in attendance were members of the PDP primary committee, led by Mr. Humphery Abba, alongside officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
By the time of filing this report, delegate screening from all 30 local government areas had been completed. A committee member disclosed that 957 out of the expected 990 delegates had been accredited.
He further noted that two aspirants, Senator Ademola Adeleke and Adebayo Olugbenga Adedamola—were initially in the contest, but Adeleke has since withdrawn from the party.
