The security operatives have been deployed to the federal government administrative offices and the area containing the Presidential, Legislative, and Judicial arms of government, a measure taken to contain a security threat during the #FreeNnamdiKanu protest.
They fire teargas intermittently to disperse a crowd of mostly government workers who have been denied access to the offices.
The angry workers complain that they should have been officially notified to stay away from work.
Meanwhile, the #FreeNnamdiKanu protesters who were dispersed from the Transcorp Area in Maitama are massing up at the popular Berger area.
The protesters, led by Omoyele Sowore, Aloy Ejimakor and others, had gathered around the Nigeria Communications Commission NCC headquarters in Maitama, chanting “Free Nnamdi Kanu Now”.
The group is demanding the release of the proscribed leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.
Nnamdi Kanu was first arrested on October 14, 2015, by the Department of State Services on charges of treasonable felony and managing an unlawful society.

In June 2021, Kanu was re-arrested and brought back from Kenya under controversial circumstances described by his lawyers as extraordinary rendition, and has since been held in DSS custody in Abuja.
TVC previously reported that the operatives of the Nigeria Police Force and some military personnel on Monday fired tear gas to disperse a mammoth crowd gathered near the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja for the #FreeNnamdiKanu protest.
The Nation reported that the demonstrators gathered, demanding the release of detained IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu.
