Former governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State, Sani Shaaban has formally announced his resignation from the party.

This comes few months after he lost the party’s governorship primary election to Senator Uba Sani and equally lost a legal battle at a Federal High Court.

In his resignation letter to the APC executives in the state, Shaaban says the party under the Kaduna state leadership has no regard for human values and the rule of law.

Sani Sha’aban is an in-law to President Muhamadu Buhari and a former member of the Federal House of Representatives.

He had last month filed a notice of appeal and he says leaving the APC will not affect its progression as he is willing to pursue it to the very end.

He further noted that he will proceed with consultations to see where next to move and what next to do.

The Kaduna State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress has been embroiled in one crisis or the Other since the period leading to the 2019 Elections with the State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, on one hand and some prominent members of the party led by Senator Suleiman Uthman Hunkuyi and Senator Sheu Sanni on the Other.

The Issues have not gone away with most of the Dramatis personnel within the All Progressives Congress having left the party but some remain.

The Governorship primary of the party in Kaduna State seems to have re-opened old wounds with the outcome of the Primary still being contested in Court by some members including Sani Shugaban, who has now resigned his membership but vows to continue to pursue the case to a logical conclusion.

This situation may place the State chapter of the All Progressives Congress in dilemma in the event of an unfavourable Court ruling on the issue akin to what happened in Zamfara State in 1999.
