Nigeria’s Beach Soccer team, the ‘Sand Eagles’ have been drawn in Group B of the 2017 Fifa Beach Soccer World Cup which is to be hosted by the Bahamas.

At the draws held on Tuesday night in Nassau, the Super sand eagles were grouped alongside European representatives Italy, Mexico and the champions of the Asian Football Confederation.

African champions Senegal will be up against hosts Bahamas, Ecuador and Switzerland in Group A.

Group C includes defending champions Portugal, Paraguay, Panama and runners up in the AFC region.

Group D looks likely as the ‘group of death’ with Brazil, 2015 runners up Tahiti, European champions Poland and the third place AFC side all in the mix.

Bahamas 2017 will be Nigeria’s fifth appearance to the Beach Soccer World Cup.

The Sand Eagles made the quarter-finals of the competition in 2007 and 2011 but will be looking to go past that stage this year.

The tournament will run from April the 27th to May the 7th.
