A public hearing on the ongoing constitutional review has been held in Akure for South-West Geopolitical Zone B, comprising Ondo, Ekiti, and Osun States.

The session provided an opportunity for citizens and interest groups to present their views on key national issues, including state creation and gender inclusion in governance.

It was a gathering of stakeholders from Ondo, Ekiti, and Osun States — including representatives of professional bodies, traditional institutions, civil society organizations, and political parties — at the public hearing organized by the House of Representatives Committee on Constitution Review.

Declaring the session open, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State described the exercise as timely and critical to addressing the most pressing concerns of citizens across the country.

Among the most notable agitations was the demand by the Ijaw community in Ondo State for the creation of an Ijaw State — a call aimed at ending what they described as years of marginalisation.

Chairman of the Committee, Hon. James Faleke, assured the people that their submissions will be duly considered in the ongoing review process.
