President Tinubu warns, any attempt to truncate ECOWAS country will not be tolerated

In a bid to avert the coup which is now facing Niger Republic, president Bola Tinubu in his capacity as chairman of the Economic Community of West African State has sent a delegation led by the president of Benin Republic to mediate in the military standoff.

President Tinubu warned that any attempts to truncate constitutional order in any ECOWAS country will not be tolerated.

President Bola Tinubu has called the situation in Niger Republic unpleasant.

A meeting with President Patrick Salon of Benin Republic is an urgent intervention and efforts to mediate in the ongoing standoff in Niger Republic that already threatens the country’s Democratic process.

The situation in Nigeria is a litmus test for the economic community of West African States and it will also test the resolve of President Bola Tinubu as chairman of the regional body that has renewed its commitment to ending military takeovers in West Africa.

In a separate meeting, the Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas led the principal officers of the House to be formally introduced to president Tinubu .

This will be the first meeting with the president since their recent appointments. But he also disclosed that he had earlier brief president Tinubu about his interface with the Striking National Association of resident doctors.

But the meeting between President Tinubu and the president of Benin Republic seems to be one of the most important engagements
for Nigeria’s president.

The world will be watching to see how ECOWAS under his leadership navigates through this crisis in Nigeria and also prevents military takeovers across the regions.
