President Museveni criticises use of torture by Police

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has warned the country’s police force that the use of torture is wrong and must be stopped.

The long serving leader’s comments came after a number of accusations, including by a town mayor, of torture at Nalufenya prison, outside the capital, Kampala.

Museveni has faced criticisms from human rights groups, for not demanding an inquiry on alleged police excesses.
