Sequel to an earlier publication suggesting that President Bola Tinubu would visit US Vice President JD Vance regarding the recent designation of Nigeria as a “country of particular concern,” Presidential aide Temitope Ajayi has categorically dismissed the claim as “untrue.”

Ajayi, in a statement obtained by TVC on Monday, expressed disdain over the report, saying it fuelled “uninformed commentaries.”

Ajayi further clarified the situation, stating that any planned US visit by President Tinubu would be to meet with President Donald Trump, not Vice President J.D. Vance.

Ajayi wrote, “There is a Sahara Reporters story that President Tinubu is going to the US on Tuesday to see US Vice President J.D. Vance.

“That story is not true. I can see that the fake news by Sahara has become the basis for some uninformed commentaries since yesterday. If President Tinubu is going to the White House, he won’t be going to see a Vice President.”

TVC previously reported that the Federal Government has rejected US President Donald Trump’s decision to classify Nigeria as a “country of particular concern,” dismissing his claims of widespread persecution of Christians as inaccurate and misleading.

In a post on Truth Social on Friday, Trump alleged that “Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria. Thousands of Christians are being killed,” blaming radical Islamists for what he described as “mass slaughter.”

Responding in a statement on Saturday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the allegations do not represent the true situation in Nigeria.
