Police recover body of Son of murdered couple in Ogun

The body of Oreoluwa, son of the murdered couple in Ogun state Kehinde and Oluwabukunola Fatinoye have been recovered from Ogun River by the police.

The couple, their son and the house help were attacked by suspected arsonists on the 1st of January 2023 shortly after the crossover
service and their house at Ibarra, GRA, Abeokuta was set ablaze.

Tragedy struck at Ibarra on January the 1st 2023 when residents discovered that a couple, Kennedy and Oluwabukunola Fatinoye died in a fire incident in their semi-detached duplex. But, one of the four occupants of the building later returned to tell the people more about what led to the Inferno.

The building is being occupied by the couple, the son who is a graduate and a housekeeper.

He was said to have informed residents that those who attacked them after setting the house ablaze took him and the son of the Fatinoye to the Ogun river bridge and pushed them into the river with their hands tied but he was lucky to escape with minor injury.

Two days later, the police recovered the body of the Son, Oreoluwa Fatinoye with the help of local divers.

Three were confirmed dead out of four persons involved in the incident.

The surviving victim was brought to the scene for identification of the corpse.

The younger brother of the victim who was also at the scene said the family of his brother has been wiped out, noting that the second child of the family died in June 2022.

While speaking about the last moment they shared together, the Vicar of the Christ Anglican Church in Iporo-Ake area described them as silent donors and easy-going individuals.

On his part, the police public relations officer in Ogun state, Abimbola Opeyemi said they are not leaving any stone unturned on the matter.

The Police PPRO who confirmed the incident said investigation has commenced and the public will be briefed as the case is being unraveled.

Kehinde Fatinoye was a former employee of the Central Bank of Nigeria and his wife a former employee of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.

The remains of the couple were taken in separate caskets after the church service to a cemetery in the Lantoro area of Abeokuta, where they were committed to mother earth.
