Operatives of the Kebbi State Police Command have successfully rescued four kidnapped victims unhurt in two separate operations across Shanga and Maiyama Local Government Areas of the State.
The swift and coordinated response also led to the arrest of one suspect, the neutralization of another, and the recovery of dangerous weapons and live ammunition.
According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafi’u Abubakar , the first operation occurred at about 12:30 a.m. on November 10, 2025, when suspected kidnappers stormed Kwari village in Giron Masa District of Shanga LGA and abducted two male victims — 24-year-old Niger Suleiman and 28-year-old Yunwa Suleiman.
Upon receiving the distress report, the Divisional Police Officer in Shanga swiftly mobilized a joint team of police officers, army personnel, and local vigilantes.

The team engaged the kidnappers in a fierce gun duel, forcing them to abandon their captives and flee into the forest with possible gunshot injuries.
Both victims were rescued unhurt, medically examined, and reunited with their families. One suspect, Musa Muhammad (50), was later arrested in connection with the incident, and security operatives recovered a Dane gun, three rounds of live ammunition, and twenty empty shells at the scene.
In a related development, around 3:45 a.m. the same day, another gang of about eight hoodlums invaded the residence of one Alhaji Sani in Botoro Gadi village, Maiyama LGA, kidnapping two women — 28-year-old Muhafi A. Sani and 30-year-old Shamsiya Aliyu. The Divisional Police Officer in Maiyama promptly led a joint team of security operatives and vigilantes to the scene, where they confronted the kidnappers.
During the ensuing exchange of fire, one of the suspects was neutralized, and a Dane gun with one empty cartridge was recovered.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Sani, commended the professionalism and gallantry displayed by the Shanga and Maiyama DPOs and their teams.
He reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property across the state while urging residents to continue supporting police efforts through timely information sharing.
