2022 Security Report: Police arrests 751 Suspects, Prosecutes 374 in Nasarawa

The Nigeria Police in Nasarawa State says it arrested Seven Hundred and Fifty-One suspects for kidnapping, armed robbery and other sundry offences in the year 2022.

It also arrested a prison warder and three other gang members for kidnapping and terrorizing residents of Akwanga Local Government of the state.

It’s been a year well spent by the Nigeria police in Nasarawa State and they are here to read out their scorecard.

The command has been on the neck of kidnappers, vandals, armed robbers and many others since the year 2022 year began.

A total of 751 suspects were arrested, 136 for armed robbery, 112 for kidnapping, 59 suspects for rape while 704 pieces of live ammunition was recovered.

Among these cases, 374 were charged to court while 23 convictions were secured.

The police also arrested a prison warder and his kidnapping gang who had been terrorizing Akwanga and its environs.

The warder was allegedly in the habit of encouraging ex-convicts to take up jobs in kidnapping.

The gang were about to kidnap a business man in Akwanga when they were nabbed by the police.

Other suspects were arrested for sundry offences and they all confessed to the crime.

NASARAWA HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT

The Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has appealed to relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies in the state to show commitment towards the development and launch of the new Human Capital Development Plan.

The governor made appeal at a workshop organized to review the state Human Capital Development draft document in Lafia, the capital of the state.

There is a new course to for the government and people of Nasarawa State with all efforts now geared towards the development and final adoption of a new HCD plan.

The state governor is totally committed to achieving the the new plan

It is why he is here in person at this workshop.

The HCD plan seeks to improve on six thematic sectors in the state which includes health, education, youths, local government, social development and community development.

This document requires a series of reviews and adoptions before implementation and this event is one of such.

The Nasarawa State Governor is pleased with the review process and wants relevant Ministries, Department and Agencies to work towards actualizing the new HCD plan.

The HCD plan would be launched at a later date after careful reviews and adoption.
