The Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani and Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido, have arrived at the Central Mosque, Abuja, for the funeral prayer of Hajiya Umma, the mother of former Kaduna State Governor Malam Nasir El-Rufai, who passed away on Friday.
Hajiya Umma died in Cairo, Egypt, after a protracted illness due to old age.
Her death was announced on Friday by her grandson, Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, who shared a post on his X handle mourning her death.

El-Rufai has been in the custody of the ICPC since February 19, 2026.
In a development on Sunday, Mohammed disclosed that Hajiya Umma’s burial rites will start by 1 p.m at the National Mosque, and her body will be laid to rest at the Gudu Cemetery.


The late Hajiya Umma was described as a woman of rare virtue, celebrated for her unwavering faith, wisdom, and boundless compassion.

President Bola Tinubu, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, and the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, have expressed their condolences and offered prayers to El-Rufai over his mother’s death.
TVC News previously reported that the Remains of the Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, mother of the Former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, have arrived in Nigeria ahead of her burial, which is slated for 1 p.m. on Sunday.
This was disclosed in a statement posted on X by her grandson, Mohammed Bello El-Rufai.
