PCN seals 255 Pharmaceutical, Patent Medicine stores in Ondo

Image result for PCN seals 255 Pharmaceutical, Patent Medicine stores in OndoAt least two hundred and fifty-five Pharmaceutical and Patent Medicine stores have been sealed in Ondo State for various offences, by the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria, PCN.

The Director, Inspection and Monitoring of PCN, Anthonia Aruya disclosed this at a press briefing in Akure, after a five-day raid carried out in the
state.

For five days, the Inspection and Monitoring team of the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria, PCN raided pharmaceutical and patent medicine stores in
six local government areas of Ondo State.

The team visited a total of 339 stores, out of which 247 patent medicine shops were sealed for various offences. A total of eight pharmaceutical stores were also sealed by the team.

Their offences include poor handling of controlled substances, sale and dispensing of drugs without supervision of pharmacists, unhygienic
environment and poor documentation.

Addressing reporters at the end of the exercise, the Director, Inspection and Monitoring of PCN, Anthonia Aruya, said the council carried out the
inspection to ensure sanity in drug-related activities. She added that seven pharmacists were issued compliance directives.

She noted that the operation is not meant to run anybody out of business, but to ensure that practitioners do the needful within stipulated
pharmaceutical laws.

The exercise was carried out in six local government areas of the State.
