Osun state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Ajibola Bashiru, is advocating stiffer punishments for medical negligence.
Basiru stated this while delivering a public lecture tagged, “Misdiagnosis and Legal Implications in an Evolving Environment”.
It was organised by the faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) held in its Osogbo Campus.
In his lecture, Ajibola Basiru highlighted the causes of misdiagnosis to include lack of expertise and equipment, unintentional mistakes and wrong interpretation of laboratory results.

He also informed citizens of their rights to approach the court of law to seek justice when their rights are abused.
The state Governor, Rauf Aregbesola promised to issue an executive order that will criminalise operations of substandard medical facilities on Monday next week.
While the Governor used the opportunity to inaugurate the hall which was recently completed, a special gift was also presented to the guest speaker.
