Organised labour says it awaits the invitation of President Bola Tinubu before considering the report of the tripartite Committee on new minimum wage, and sending a bill to the National Assembly.

This is as the Kogi State Government says it is committed to prompt payment of workers’ salaries every month.

It is a home coming for Onah Edoka, the former Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress in Kogi State, who is now Special Adviser to the Governor on Labour Matters.
He leads other officials to the headquarters of the NLC.

Mr. Edoka and his team assure organised labour of an improved workers welfare in the state.

To demonstrate the Usman Ododo led administration’s commitment to improving the lives of workers, the visiting team highlights some of the steps taken so far.

Among the deliberate policies of the government to impact the lives of workers in the state are

*Prompt payment of salaries;
*Payment of full entitlements to pensioners, *Implementation of 35 per cent hazard allowance to all categories of state health workers and
*The provision ofa transformer and the linking of the state NLC Secretariat to 33KVA line.

The state government is confident of a cordial relationship and improved industrial relations in the state.

Organised labour is pleased with the appointment of labour leaders into government.

NLC President, Joe Ajaero, acknowledges improved industrial relations in the state and assures the team of an unflinching support at all times.

But he cautions against the tendency to derail.

He says the tripartite Committee on minimum wage expects Mr. President to discuss his line of thought on the minimum wage before sending a bill to the parliament.
