Following a statement made by Governor Alex Otti regarding the 2027 election in a viral video, in which he warned that “those planning to write the election result should instead write their will,” Nigerians on social media condemned the statement, arguing the governor is inciting violence.
As seen on X, a user identified as @OgbeniDipo compared the statement to a similar remark made by former President Muhammadu Buhari in the build-up to the 2019 election, saying, “If I am not mistaken, Former President Buhari made a similar comment in 2019 and Minister@fkeyamo had to explain it repeatedly, after coming under fire from the opposition. I stand to be corrected.”
Another user @Equityoyo wrote, “If na MC Oluomo make this statement, everywhere go don scatter. For Obidients, Otti is defending his own state but others cannot make such in SW.”
Another user @GoziconC wrote, “Alex Otti is nothing but a fraud. He is spending a lot of millions to look good on social media but the opposite is happening in his state. He is only afraid of 2027, because because he knows he has failed the people of Abia State. The most incompetent Governor right now!”
@maydebuk23 wrote, “This is all good and fine until it is said by a Yoruba person. Change Alex Otti to MC Oluomo or Tafa Sego and this app would have been on fire since yesterday.”
TVC previously reported that the Abia Governor, Alex Otti, has cautioned those allegedly planning to rig the 2027 gubernatorial election in the state.
Otti warned them to “write their will” before attempting to manipulate the people’s mandate.
Otti gave the caution during a monthly media chat with journalists at the Government House in Umuahia, the Abia State capital on Thursday, October 16.
