Wife of the State Governor, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu stated this at a two-day dialogue meeting on child protection and safeguarding policy in Akure.

Represented by the Special Adviser to the State Governor on gender, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu said government cannot do it alone, hence the need for robust collaboration with donors.

She urged stakeholders in the education sector to ensure that students are protected against any form of violence.

Also speaking, the Executive Secretary of Ondo State Agency Against Gender-Based Violence, Bolanle Afolabi stressed the need to ensure that children receive effective support, protection and justice.

Representative of Westminster Foundation for Democracy and other participants want schools be at alert for signs of abuse and neglect among students.

Mr Adebowale Olorunmola, Country Director, WFD, Nigeria, explained that the goal of the dialogue was to develop adequate sanctions to serve as a deterrent to child abuse.

He noted that the implementation of the policies would incorporate everyone working on school premises to be conversant with the policies and make school premises safe.
