Nigeria’s next president must be one with limited powers unlike the current system of federalism which is over centralized.

A former president of the Nigerian bar association, Olisa Agbakoba, was making his observations about the ongoing presidential campaigns and says candidates should do more to proffer solutions to Nigeria’s existential threats.

For the senior lawyer and activist , The present realities in Nigeria make the 2023 a defining moment which, he says, raises the need for a thorough search for who will preside over the affairs of the country after President Muhammadu Buhari.

Olisa agbakoba legal has now released a policy report of some of the big concerns which should be addressed by the next president.

The document also offers solutions which it wants the candidates to consider and include into their agendas, as a way to hasten Nigeria’s political and economic transformation.

According to the convener, most of the presidential candidates have failed to make specific recommendations on how to revive Nigeria’s ailing economy especially in boosting her revenues.

In his words, This is one of the most issues-based election in Nigeria’s history, a good opportunity for the electorate and the candidates to contribute to the country’s rebirth.

Dr Olisa Agbakoba a senior Advocate of Nigeria was one of the activists who were in the eye of the storm in fighting for the actualisation of the annulled June 12 Presidential Elections between 1993 and 1998.

He was arrested and detained several times within the period.

He has since the return of democracy in 1999 dedicated himself to the entrenchment of Democratic Tenets in the Country and Economic Development.

He has also worked with like minds within the country for the development of the maritime sector where he is a big player especially Maritime Law.

He was also a former President of the Nigerian Bar Association.
