A government owned institution, Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Saapade, Ogun state said it has concluded plans to establish Software application development centre as part of efforts aimed at ensuring that Nigerian youths maximize the benefits of Information and Communication Technology and to empower them to be self reliant.
The Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Isaiah Oyeyinka made this known during a matriculation programme of the institution.
Oyeyinka noted that it has become imperative for students to pay attention to opportunities in the ICT world and create employment for the unemployed Nigerians, adding that a nation cannot go wrong if its gives proper attention to technological development.
On her part, the Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Modupe Mujota said the Federal government still has a lot to do, in terms of capacity building and ensuring that the foundation of primary education in Nigeria is well structured.
