Ogun doctors protest against poor health facilities

Doctors in Ogun State have staged a protest against poor health facilities and decay in the health sector.

They say they face various challenges, including lack of modern equipment and electricity, poor drug supply, shortage of manpower, and inadequate security.

These are Doctors on the employment of Ogun State government. They are out to protest what they called neglect of the health sector by the state government.

They said they are tired of staying at their duty posts without tools to work with and expressed sadness about the state of health facilities in the state.

Speaking about the challenges, the Chairman of the Association in the state, Abayomi Olajide said they lack adequate manpower and that the state has refused to employ trainee doctors in the last three years.

 

The doctors also took their protest to the state House of Assembly where they submitted their protest letter to the clerk of the House.

They said they embarked on the protest instead of going on strike, in order to continue to safe lives of innocent residents of the state but may be left with no option if government fails to respond to their demands.
