NURTW kicks against rising cases of armed robbery

Road Transport Workers’ Union in Nigeria is worried about increasing cases of armed robbery and kidnapping of its members.

The union also exonerated its members from late arrival of election materials in some places in the last general election.

Correspondent Joke Adisa reports that it was the first enlarged meeting of the NURTW after Nigeria’s general election and aimed to review its performance arising from the memorandum of understanding it entered into with INEC on transportation of personnel and materials.

The union is satisfied with the performance of its members but blames challenges experienced on the attitude of some electoral officers and security agents

The recent return of queues at petrol stations also gave the union some concern. It is now advocating the construction of more refineries to meet the nation’s needs. The union also wants the authorities to urgently address prevailing insecurity in the land.

NURTW is full of praises for the Buhari administration over progress made in road construction and charges it not to relent in reaching out to areas not yet reached.

Ahead of its delegates conference in August, the union announced zoning of national offices with the President expected to come from the South.
