Applications for compensation or claims from victims of workplace accidents would be processed and paid within 10 days, this is according to the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund, NSITF.

This was announced by Michael Akabogu, Managing Director of NSITF, at the 2022 NSITF-SERVICOM Stakeholder Forum in Abuja.

The agency noted that it had a regular policy of responding to claims within 14 days, but that delays could arise if victims did not submit crimes promptly.

Mr Akabogu also revealed plans for a radical restructuring of its service compact, including the establishment of a toll-free 24-hour Call Center to improve access and timely response from the public.

He said, “To bolster service delivery, the Fund will in the next few months unveil a toll-free, 24-hour Call Centre, with a catchy, easy-to-remember code to enhance access and prompt feedback.

“This is a fundamental step intended to tear down the wall between the fund and its numerous publics, especially with the issues of complaints on claims, registration and emergencies. It will effectively eliminate cases, where mishaps are not promptly reported for reasons of hours of the day or days of the week when offices are usually shut.”

The National Coordinator of Service Compact with All Nigerians, Mrs. Nnenna Akajemeli, stated in her speech that the forum was a chance to interact with the NSITF beneficiaries and stakeholders and to provide participants with feedback in order to ensure seamless services.

She emphasised the importance of routine service delivery monitoring in developing new methods to address emergent difficulties.

She urged the agency to move quickly on the official presentation of its Service Charter, as well as regular employee.
