The Zamfara State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Sani Mustapha, has called on stakeholders to work closely with security agencies to restore peace to the State.
Mustapha made the appeal while addressing journalists at the state command’s annex headquarters in Gusau on Sunday during activities marking the 2025 International World Peace Day.
He said the theme of this year’s celebration, “Act Now for a Peaceful World,” reflects the aspirations of well-meaning citizens yearning for lasting peace, especially in Zamfara.
“The Corps is fully committed to supporting the Executive Governor, Dr Lawal Dauda, in the pursuit of peace and tranquillity in the state,” Mustapha stated.
He praised the leadership of the NSCDC Commandant-General, Prof Abubakar Ahmed Audi, for strengthening the Corps’ operational capacity and professionalism.
The Commandant also urged residents of Zamfara to embrace peace, adhere to the spirit of the Peace Day theme, and create a conducive environment for businesses to thrive.
This year’s celebration featured a presentation of an award of excellence to Mustapha by members of the Corps and a walk and jog across Gusau metropolis to raise public awareness about the importance of peace.
