The Senate has dismissed reports suggesting any plan to impeach the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio.
During plenary, the Leader of the Senate clarified that there was no such issue before the chamber, describing the claims as a misrepresentation.
He maintained that the Senate remains united, with zero tolerance for distractions that could undermine its stability and legislative focus.
This clarification comes on the heels of earlier remarks by Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, who had told journalists at the National Assembly that there were indeed discussions among some lawmakers exploring the possibility of removing the Senate President though he noted the attempt did not materialise.
The Senate leadership, however, insists that the comment was taken out of context, reaffirming its commitment to legislative cooperation, national interest, and the unity of the 10th Senate.
