The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has refuted reports claiming that its national leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, endorsed the alleged defection of Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Kano State Chairman of the party, Hashim Dungurawa, dismissed the claims while addressing journalists in Kano, describing them as false and misleading.

Dungurawa said Kwankwaso, alongside other NNPP leaders, made repeated efforts to prevail on Governor Yusuf to remain with the party, noting that the situation had been difficult despite these interventions.

He urged the governor and his supporters to reconsider their position and stay within the NNPP, stressing that the people of Kano State have rejected any move away from the party.

The NNPP chairman further appealed to residents of Kano State and Nigerians nationwide to continue supporting the party and its leader, Senator Kwankwaso, expressing confidence that such loyalty would translate into success in future elections.
