Its’ day two of the U.S-Africa Summit, nearly 50 African leaders converged on Washington, Tuesday to begin three days of talks on issues Central to the future of the continent and the world, including Health, Food, security, climate change, Civil Wars among other issues.

It is the centerpiece of a major effort to reset and improve U.S. ties with African countries, whose relations with China and increasingly Russia have drawn scrutiny.

The U.S-African leaders Summit this week is the first one since 2014 comes as the world is struggling with urgents crisis some of which are having catastrophic effects on Africa.

The U.S officials say they also want to discuss forward-looking topics such as commercial investment and technology and can have long-term benefits for the continent.

The first day’s meetings were centered on critical topics including the environment, Public Health, Democratic governance and security.

President Biden is expected to give speeches today and tomorrow and he and the first lady are scheduled to host the heads of the delegations at dinner on Wednesday night.

The Biden Administration is trying to repair relations with African nations after President Joe Donald Trump largely ignored them and famously disparaged some in a White House meeting in 2018.

Professor of International Relations and Strategic studies, David Aworawo speaking on the expectations of the summit said President Muhammadu Buhari has highlighted one of the issues the country currently faces which is epileptic power supply which has affected social life and economy of the country.

We are also happy that the issue of power continues to occupy the center stage of issues Nigeria is presenting to the global community.

It is important that the issue of power crisis in Nigeria continues to be highlighted on the International stage.

Nigeria seeking assistants and their partnership to be able to address this huge issue which has affected social life and the country’s economic development negatively and that is what you can really focus on as far as that is concerned.
