The Federal Government has the capacity to defend and provide Security for all Nigerians and should do so immediately.
Public Affairs analyst and Lawyer, Jide Ologun, disclosed this while speaking to TVC News This Morning Programme in reaction to the Armed Attack on the Tom Ikimi Train Station in Igueben Edo State on Saturday.
Mr Ologun who was speaking to Nifemi Oguntoye, said the issue is all about priority and how the personnel available to government should be deployed.
He said the government has the necessary capacity to defend and provide security for all Nigerians.
He frowned at the failure and reluctance of the Federal Government to deploy drones and even Helicopters that are very necessary in a time of heightened Security.
He said some observers especially outside Nigeria may have a strong feeling that the Country has a certain level of affinity or bias for Terrorism.
He called for the redeployment of some of the Security personnel that have been attached to members of the National Assembly, Other private Individuals and Corporate organisations to guard and protect Critical National Installations.
He described as unfortunate the current situation that has led to the Internal Displacement of Persons within the Country and gradual replacement by Others who are non natives.
For some of the callers on the programme like Mazi Okoroafor from Arochukwu in Abia State and Joshua from Irewolede in Osun State, the Nigerian Railways Corporation has to do much better than it is currently doing in terms of security.
They asked what the Nigerian Railways Corporation is doing in terms of Risk assessment and how it is spending its yearly budget especially as it affects security.
They called on the Corporation to be more proactive in its daily operation to ensure that such critical National Infrastructures are protected.
He expressed his disappointment at the handling of earlier issues arising from attacks on the Abuja-Train Station adding that Terrorists who attacked the Abuja-Kaduna Passenger Train on the 28th of March 2022 have according to an ECOWAS report have amassed Billions of Naira in War Chest and will be able to Terrorise the Sahel region.
He also said the government should stop negotiating with Terrorists to the detriment of the safety and welfare of Nigerians.
