Billions are lost to wastages in Nigeria’s agricultural space annually owing to post-harvest losses.

Experts have continued to lament the situation considering resources expended on farming. The country has over time been advised to engage in adequate storage mechanisms and also improve market linkages to stop such wastages.

Feed Nigeria Secretariat is now recommending that value addition be intensified by real agro-industrialisation.

The farming stakeholders commend efforts by the authorities to extend lines of credits to farmers through the anchor borrowers program, but they are worried that many of the farmers have challenges paying back due to several issues and want more support for them intensified.

Nigeria in collaboration with development Partners recently launched a 575 million dollar rural access and Agricultural Marketing program which focuses on provision of roads for farmers to boost market linkages for their output and stop wastages.
