Image result for New Year: It is a time of hope, optimism and a fresh start - BuhariPresident Muhammadu Buhari has sent out his new year message to Nigerians and says the year 2020 is a time of hope, optimism and fresh possibilities.

Mr President added that the 2020’s is the decade of opportunities to build on foundations laid on security, diversification of the economy and the anti-corruption war.

He thanked Nigerians for giving him the chance of a 2nd term, stating his determination to strengthen Nigeria’s electoral process.

President Buhari stated that he will not be contesting the 2023 presidential election or any other elections in the future.

On security, President Buhari stated that this is his primary concern and that he will continue to support the military in every way to crush boko haram, bandits, kidnappers and other organised criminal networks, adding that violent extremists have no place in Nigeria.

On the economy, President Buhari lauded the policies of his administration, especially the clamp down on imported products to promote locally produced goods.
He says this is tackling poverty and safeguarding national economic interests.

He added that the revolution in agriculture is a reality in all corners of the country stressing that agreements signed with Russia, Morocco and others will help Nigerians access on attractive terms, the inputs needed to accelerate the transformation in farming.

He cited the signing of the Africa Continental Free Trade Area agreement as an action that will allow Nigeria to fully capitalise on regional and continental markets.

On infrastructure development, President Buhari says government is making significant progress key roads such as the 2nd Niger bridge, the Lagos-Ibadan expressway and the Kano-Abuja highway. He added that 2020 will also tangible progress on the Lagos-Kano rail line.
