The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, has begun distributing relief materials to 23,000 families affected by the 2022 floods and vulnerable people across Niger state’s 25 local government areas.
The 2022 floods which swept across 21 local councils in the Niger state remains one of the most devastating natural disasters to occur in the state.
The most affected people live on the bank of the river Niger that overflows its bank during the rainy season.
The National Emergency Management Agency under the Special National Economic and Livelihood Emergency Intervention is flagging off the distribution of relief items to 23,000 households in the state.
The relief agency further disclosed that the Federal Government approved this intervention specifically for people affected by the 2022 flood disasters and those classified as the most vulnerable persons across the country.
Not much has been put in place to avert flooding disaster this year.
