The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in Adamawa state says it has arrested 454 suspected hard drug dealers comprising 447 males and seven females while 4,732.128 kilograms of hard drugs were confiscated in the last one year.

Adamawa state which borders Cameroon republic has been used by drug Barron as exit root for their illegal transaction.

But NDLEA operatives are not given chances to drug dealers .

Recently, the agency seized items including Cannabis sativa, Methamphetamine, Cocaine; Tramadol; Exol-5; Diazepam tablets; Codeine-based syrup; Rohypnol tablet; and Pentazocine injection.

Addressing newsmen in Yola, as part of activities marking this year’s International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the state Commander of NDLEA, Agboalu Samson, says the drug seizures which were recorded from June 2023 to May 2024, represents 75 percent increase over the seizures of June 2022 to May 2023.

He said although the elements behind drug dealings have reduced in number in the state, the scale of drug dealings has increased.

He explained that the command’s prosecution efforts led to the conviction of 148 individuals comprising 145 males and three females.

While the highest sentences handed down were between 10 and five years imprisonment, with the most recent being six months.
