To reduce transportation challenges confronting residents travelling between Cross River riverine communities and Akwa Ibom State, the Niger Delta Development Commission has unveiled plans to partner investors in the regional water transportation corridor.

To address this, the Managing Director of NDDC, Samuel Ogbuku is here in calabar to unveiling an improved ferry service at Marina Resort.
The inauguration of Abitto Ferry Service according to the NDDC Boss emerged as a beacon of hope within the regional water transportation corridor.
He highlights the prolonged sufferings endured by citizens due to the dilapidated state of the Calabar-Itu Road, and emphasized the commitment of the NNDC to support investments and projects aimed at enhancing the welfare of the region’s populace.
The Chairman Senate Committee on NDDC, Asuquo Ekpeyong and the Managing Director of Abito ferry transport in Cross River State, Richard Akinaka, stated the dual benefits of the service and how it will significantly reduce travel time and promote tourism within the state.
The NDDC hopes that with this inauguration, the significance of water transportation will stimulate economic growth and foster job creation in the region
