NASENI launches stove to help reduce harmful emissions

The Executive Vice Chairman of National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure NASENI Mohammad Sami Haruna has launched and distributed three thousand units of NASENI – ATMOSFAIR “save eighty efficient cook stove “

It was jointly designed by NASENI and German Manufacturer to reduce harmful emissions, desertification and save the climate .

Ninety percent of Nigerian house holds in rural areas still use fire wood, charcoal, and kerosene as their primary means of cooking , despite the health bazaars and negative impact these have on the environment.

A report by the WHO estimates over ninety eight thousand Nigerian women die annually from the use of firewood .

A woman who cooks breakfast , lunch, and dinner with firewood is compared to a person smoking between three and twenty packets of cigarettes a day.

NASENI has decided to intervene by partnering with a German manufacturer ATMOSFAIR to come up with a solution

It is in form of an efficient cook stove to promote affordable fast and reliable energy in Nigeria.

At this event , NASENI’s Executive Vice Chairman, Mohammad Sani Haruna is happy his Agency’s collaboration with ATMOSFAIR will result in the distribute three thousand units to deserving women, IDPs, and widows across the six geo political zones .

He also explains that; the products are environmentally friendly and will be a positive contribution to managing climate change and service to humanity .

NASENI and its German manufacturer are to identify more production capacity areas within the the next three years in Nigeria .

The target is to produce one million native stoves per year and seven million by 2030.

Both parties hope to achieve United Nation’s sustainable development goals number seven on ensuring access to affordable reliable sustainable clean energy for all .

They also aim to achieve Nigeria’s Nationally Determined Contribution targets on emission reduction by 2030.

Emissions reduction is a major part of efforts aimed at slowing down Climate Change especially on the African Continent.
