NASENI distributes cooking stoves, wonder Pots to 800 women in Nasarawa

The National Agency For Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has distributed cooking stoves and wonder pots to Eight Hundred women in the Southern and Northern zones of Nasarawa State.

The invention will help reduce carbon emission and discourage deforestation in the country.

A demonstration of the proper usage of the save 80 efficient cooking stove and wonder pots in Lafia the capital of Nasarawa State.

The invention is courtesy of the efforts of National Agency For Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) in collaboration with a German firm, the Atmosfair.

The Executive Vice Chairman NASENI, Professor Mohammad Haruna is pleased with the invention and the efficacy of the stoves

The new cooking stoves and wonder pots will help to reduce cooking time, Cooking energy, carbon emission and discourage deforestation.

About 800 women in Lafia and Akwanga zones of the state are benefiting from this invention.

This invention is a step in the right direction for the Nasarawa State Governor and he wants the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items.

The beneficiaries are glad with innovation and optimistic it would reduce the cost of cooking energy.

Women in Nasarawa State are the first sets of beneficiaries and this would be replicated in the six geopolitical zones of the country.

NASENI also recently distributed cooking stoves and wonder pots to Eight Hundred women in the Southern and Northern zones of Nasarawa State.

The invention is to help reduce carbon emission and discourage deforestation in the country.

Executive Vice chairman of the National Agency Prof Mohammad Haruna Haruna said with consideration to Nigeria’s Nationally Determined Contribution targets for emission reduction by 2030, the use of energy-efficient cooking stoves will provide a very high potential for emission reduction.

The energy stoves was jointly designed by NASENI and a German manufacturer to reduce harmful emissions, desertification and save the climates.

90% of Nigerian household in rural areas still use firewood, charcoal and kerosene as their primary means of cooking despite the health hazards and negative impacts these have on the environment.
