The USAID Local Health System Sustainability in Nigeria has trained 40 Officials of the Nasarawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency and the Health Insurance Agency on technical competency and leadership capacity.

The training which is executed by the Development Governance International Consult is aimed at improving health care services and financial risk protection for residents of the state.

Achieving Universal Health Coverage is one of the 17 targets of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

In Nigeria, the primary healthcare centres and the health insurance agencies are key to achieving this goal.

While the health insurance agencies are saddled with responsibility of providing financial risk protection, the primary healthcare provides population coverage for health services.

In a bid to achieve this goal in good time, USAID Local Health System Sustainability in Nigeria, is organizing this four day capacity training for officials of the Nasarawa State Primary Healthcare Agency and the Health Insurance Agency.

The training is anchored on technical competency and leadership capacity building and this is driven by the trainers.

The participating agencies believe the training is apt and would impact greatly on their output.

A mentorship plan would be developed to enable the participants to step down the knowledge to other officials of their respective agencies.
