Despite the country’s worsening insecurity, Muslim faithful in North-central states celebrated the 2022 Eid El-Kabir festival, the Islamic feast of sacrifice.
Governors and Islamic clerics both emphasised the importance of deeply reflecting on the celebration’s lessons of sacrifice, love, peace, and harmony.

The Chiarman of the North central states governors forum in Niger State, charged Muslims faithful to imbibe the lesson of the season by being tolerant and peaceful.
His counterparts from Nasarawa and Kwara state also spoke on the need for peace,calling on citizens to be security conscious.
At the Ilorin central prayer ground in Kwara state, worshippers were delighted to see former senate president exchange pleasantries with the Governor – both being Political arch rivals.
In neighboring Northwest Nigeria, the Kano Eid prayer ground was packed full.
Governor Ganduje charged all Muslims to deeply reflect on the lessons of the celebration which include sacrifice, love, peace and harmony.
Other Muslim had some weeks ago left the country for Saudi Arabia on pilgrimage – an event that coincides with the Eid El- Kabir celebration
One thing was common across all prayer ground in the region, an outright condemnation of acts terrorism and criminality and the need for peace was preached.
