The Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy, Barrister Hannatu Musa Musawa, joined senior government officials, diplomats, and members of the Indian community in Abuja to mark the 77th Republic Day of India.
The event drew senators, ministers, ambassadors, and other distinguished guests, highlighting the enduring friendship and growing cooperation between Nigeria and India.
Delivering a keynote address, the High Commissioner of India to Nigeria, Mr. Abhishek Singh, reflected on India’s democratic journey since the adoption of its Constitution in 1950.
He highlighted the country’s recent achievements in economic growth, digital transformation, healthcare, manufacturing, and global development partnerships.
Describing India as the world’s fastest-growing major economy and a leading voice of the Global South, the High Commissioner reaffirmed India’s commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with Nigeria, particularly in trade, investment, technology, and people-to-people relations.

He also noted the increasing presence of Indian investments across various sectors of the Nigerian economy and expressed optimism that continued collaboration would promote shared prosperity and sustainable development.
In her remarks, Minister Musawa congratulated the Government and people of India on their national celebration, describing Republic Day as a “powerful symbol of democratic ideals, resilience, and rich cultural heritage.”
She underscored the deep cultural connections between Nigeria and India and reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to expanding cooperation in culture, film, tourism, and the creative economy.
The Minister further emphasized the importance of promoting shared heritage and fostering a future where creative talents from both countries can innovate, tell compelling stories, and connect global audiences through art and cultural expression.
The event also featured goodwill messages from other members of the Federal Executive Council and prominent dignitaries, who collectively highlighted the significance of Nigeria–India relations in advancing mutual respect, collaboration, and sustainable development.
Minister Musawa concluded by congratulating India on its 77th Republic Day and wishing the nation continued peace, prosperity, and progress, while celebrating the enduring bond of friendship between Nigeria and India.
